Spousal Loss

Finding hope after loss

This isn't how it was supposed to go. You and your partner were supposed to walk through this life together. And now you're feeling like you have to walk through your life alone as well as embark on this new grief journey. Your partner was your other half and you're feeling lost and uncertain about who you are without them. You're feeling overwhelmed by these thoughts and what this means for you moving forward. Whichever way you're navigating it all, you're exhausted and don't want to do it anymore.

If this is how you’re feeling, I can help! In creating a safe space, I will guide you through honoring your grief journey — allowing you to explore who you are and what your life will look like with this loss in your life.

Common Questions

“will i ever move on from this?”

When grief is approached with the expectation to "move on", it can create pressure to no longer be affected by the loss. We would never expect ourselves to stop showing our love for those we care about so why would we expect ourselves to stop grieving and mourning them? Grief is just a different form of love. Instead of "moving on" from grief, I will guide you through learning how to grow around your grief and carry the loss with you.

“If I'm not ready to talk about my grief, is therapy still helpful?”

Absolutely! 100%, yes! A big part of engaging in effective grief counseling is to make sure you have all the foundational pieces in place (a safe support system, coping skills, a rapport/connection with your therapist, etc.) before jumping into the nitty gritty part of your grief journey. If you're not ready to dive into your grief, we create more room for all those foundational pieces so when you are ready you will soar!
